Nonprofit association events offer several benefits to the organization, the community and the causes they support. Not only do they promote the hosts and sponsors and provide a way to potentially raise a lot of money in a short period of time, they also allow for a community to experience the notion of giving back in an innovative and celebratory way. Here are our top 3 nonprofit association events of 2015, all designed by Event Creative.

2015 Steppenwolf Gala

The 2015 Steppenwolf Gala took place on May 9, 2015. The evening included an exclusive showcase of scenes from Steppenwolf’s production of The Herd, cocktails and a gourmet dinner. A live auction followed the dinner featuring adventures with the Steppenwolf ensemble. The evening ended with a performance by Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band and a late night DJ set.

Jeffrey Foster is the Senior Event Designer for Event Creative. Today he is known as one of Chicago’s most brilliant designers. In Jeffrey’s words, “Steppenwolf’s décor was based on the play that was in residency at that time, [The Herd]. It took place in England so we decided to give things a more edgy British vibe. Each table was designed as if flowers were hand picked from your own English Garden. Individual blossoms were featured in small bottles as if you had cut flowers and put them in your window sill. Large white brick walls gave the tent an urban loft feel, and we attached Banksy’esque graffiti to the wall, each a pen and ink sketch of English Garden floral.”

Kohl Children’s Museum: 2015 An Evening to Imagine Gala

The 2015 An Evening to Imagine Gala is the largest fundraiser event of the year for the Kohl Children’s Museum in Glenview, Illinois. This year, the museum celebrated their 30th year and honored the Founder’s Circle, a group of eight individuals and families whose passion and financial support made the Museum possible. Dinner, dancing and a live auction accompanied the celebration.

According to Jeffrey,  “Kohl Children’s Museum was all about the deconstructed tree. Branches were fashioned into chandeliers on the dance floor while miniature branch arrangements in glass cloche were featured on each table. The event had a beautiful Fall feeling.”

Adler Planetarium’s Celestial Ball 2015: Over the Moon

The 2015 Celestial Ball at the Adler Planetarium is an annual black-tie gala that is attended by over 650 business, civic and philanthropic leaders. It was held on September 12, 2015 this year. It’s hosted by the Women’s Board of the Adler Planetarium, and it benefits that museum’s STEM education program for at-risk Chicago youth. Dinner, dancing and a silent auction are included. This year, BMO Harris Bank was awarded the 2015 Corporate Partner Award for their ongoing support and contributions to the planetarium.

Jeffrey states “Adler’s Over The Moon had an Art Deco slant to celebrate the architecture of the planetarium. Deco moon inspirations were found at tables as well as bars. We even created a large moon that guests sat in for photo opportunities.”
